Setting the Stage for Success: How Ravenswood Event Center Supports The Gift Theatre

The lights, the sounds, the community—live theater has a unique power to bring people together. The Gift Theatre in Jefferson Park has been doing just that for over two decades. But putting on a show requires space. That’s where the Ravenswood Event Center, a premier local venue, stepped in.

The Gift Theatre is a non-profit theater company dedicated to telling great stories on Chicago’s Northwest side. Known for its intimate 40-seat theater, The Gift provides world-class theatrical experiences at accessible prices, ensuring theater is for everyone.

Running a small theater means rehearsal space is always at a premium. The management at the Ravenswood Event Center, long-time fans of The Gift, heard about this challenge. “We have these beautiful, large spaces that are often unused during the week,” says the venue’s director. “It just made sense to offer them to a local arts organization that enriches our city.” They now donate rehearsal space during off-peak hours, free of charge.

“Having a professional space to rehearse has elevated our work immeasurably,” the theater’s artistic director says. “The cast can fully explore the play without constraints.” An actor adds, “That kind of support from a local business is what keeps Chicago theater alive and thriving.”
